Held in tribute to the victims of the Tsunami, this year's annual food festival at Blue Elephant will showcase the cooking of southern Thailand. The region, which is home to the famous holiday
resorts of Ko Samui, Phuket and Krabi, has a vibrant cuisine, based on local vegetables, fruit and seafood, with influences from nearby Malaysia. An extensive choice of dishes will include the
likes of spicy cod soufflé with fresh herbs, stir-fried spicy seafood with basil, green peppercorns, palm hearts and yard-long beans, whole steamed seabass wrapped in banana leaves, and green lamb
curry with coconut milk. Look out, too, for the typical local vegetable sator, served uncompromisingly spicy in a stir-fry with prawns - an interesting (if perhaps acquired) taste.
