On 27 November, Mayfair restaurant Franco’s is offering 45 places to its International Charity Truffle Auction. Priced at
£150 per person, and preceded by a three-course lunch, the event will allow guests to watch bidders from London, Rome and Macau – connected via satellite – fight it out for lots including white
truffles, fine wines and luxury Italian gifts. In 2007, the auction set a world record when it sold the most expensive white truffle ever, when a 1.5kg beauty went for US$330,000 (£206,000), with
all the proceeds going to charity. The event is covered by film crews and journalists from across the globe, and last year's coverage featured in publications from Ireland to New Zealand.
The lunch starts at 12.30pm with the auction following at 2.30pm. To buy a ticket to the event, call 020 7499 2211 or email [email protected].
