Foreign players have made the English game richer since the code turned professional in 1995 and the Cherry and Whites have had their share of stars of the international game. They convinced New Zealand stand off Henry Paul to leave the Bradford Bulls and switch codes from rugby league and, more recently, Gloucester signed Italy prop Carlos Nieto, reputed by many to be the best player of the 2006 Six Nations. They also made a move for England World Cup winner Mike Tindall in 2005 to add real quality among their backs.
