Formed in 1859, Kent have enjoyed two periods of sustained success. In the early 1900s they won four county championships in seven years, but had to wait until the 1970s for their next trophy haul,
claiming 10 major titles, including three more championships. Kent have provided England with strong players in recent years such as batsman Robert Key, who helped England to win the Under-19 World
Cup in 1998, and wicketkeeper Geraint Jones, who played a vital role in England winning the Ashes in 2005.
