Edinburgh is the home of the world’s largest arts event, a festival that lasts the whole month, and that includes Foodies at the Festival. Held during the August bank holiday, this event is designed to be even bigger than last year with major improvements in its organisation. First, the location has moved to a five star Sheraton Grand Hotel and the Festival Square, which will allow for an even bigger produce market with more stalls and more room for hot food and cafe style seating. Second, last year only offered masterclasses in drink, but this year there will be classes in food from chocolates to cheeses. But the star attraction is the specially built chef’s theatre which will highlight the qualities of Scottish ingredients and cooking in hour-long classes. Among others, award-winning chefs such as Michelin starred Martin Wishart and Scottish Restaurant of the Year 2008 winner Roy Brett among others will be demonstrating their knowledge. The festival will be bigger than last year and well worth the travel. Tickets will be on sale soon. To find out more, call 0131 226 7766 or click here.
