The Cavendish Hotel has created a unique way to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday: the Nelson Mandela ‘46664’ cocktail. The drink, made with Cointreau, Hennessy VS Cognac, orange juice and honey, is named after the activist’s inmate number during his 26-year imprisonment by apartheid authorities. It is inspired by South African oranges and sugar cane and guests can enjoy its refreshing, citrus punch in the contemporary surroundings of the Lobby Bar. Designed by head barman Robert Gaggl, the creation of the cocktail also coincides with a concert being held in Hyde Park on 18 July in Mandela’s honour.
50% of proceeds will go to Mandela’s charity which raises money to combat AIDS. For more information visit The Cavendish Hotel
