Blog Reviews from The London Sinner

  1. I don’t think I’ve encountered anyone who doesn’t love indulging in Spanish tapas. If you do know that unfortunate soul, please bring them to my site and I’ll gladly covert them with my reviews of Opera Taven, Iberica and this one of El Pirata Detapas. El Pirata Detapas offers a vast number of Spanish sharing plates executed elegantly, with innovative, modern twists. It is the sister restaurant to ‘El Pirata in Mayfair and it’s located on Westbourne Grove. The décor is cosy and vibrant with sleek dark tables and seating. The staff have been prepped to know their stuff, but love what they do and that is reflected in the near to faultless service (end it’s always busy)...

  2. I am a sucker for hotel restaurants, they’re definitely one of my weaknesses. When I heard the news that Petrichor, (the restaurant inside plush The Cavendish London Hotel- Jermyn Streetl) had just received their second AA Rosette, as well as having launched a brand new menu- I was like a bee to a honey and decided to go without a second thought. Here, large windows make the most of sweeping views over the streets below where shoppers and gallery goers enjoy the numerous charms of the upmarket St James area. The décor walks the line between relaxed and glamorous making it ideal for the more intimate dining occasion...

  3. Infamous American grub you mostly hear of (and drool over) on US TV shows (no, I’m not talking about burgers and pizzas) may not be as easily accessible to us as in America, but The Diner Spitafields (and their other six branches) brings a large authentic portion of these goodies, enough to keep us smiling and loosening our belts. I visited the brand spanking new branch in Spitafields with some friends. All I can say is that we literally ate SO much, we had to dance it off afterwards. Everything on the vast and varied menu is tempting, and it was totally A-OK to pig out the proper American way...

  4. Friday night – the music booming, the people buzzing, and I am soon to be bouncing. I’m at Kamique bar, one of the newest additions to St Martins Lane. If you’re anything like me, the idea of going into Leicester Square on a Friday night may seem extremely daunting. Apart from having the standard Friday night crowd blocking your way to the bar, you also have the tourists, the stags, hens and the (insert something offensive) people that you need to elbow past. Kamique appears to be a secret for many of those groups. Don’t get me wrong, this place was packed, but that’s probably more down to the fact that it’s an ideal place to start your evening, than anything else...

Mestizo | Mestizo – Meican food for the soul- NW1

Forget tequila slammers and salsa-covered-everything, Mestizo leaves the gimmicks to its competition and focuses whole-heartedly on serving up authentic Mexican dishes steering clear from the cliches. Between the 4th and 14th of September, Mestizo had their 9th Gastronomic Festival, (don’t worry, there’ll be more). This popular event presented cuisine from 10 different states in Mexico, resulting in 10 exciting starters and 10 mains to match...

Carom | Carom Soho W1 – Written by Honey Kohan

As a Londoner, and no less a Londoner who used to live on Brick Lane, I thought I knew of all the Indian dishes and the best Indian places to eat. Boy was I wrong. Ladies and gentlemen, it is time to re-educate your tastebuds, but be warned, you may abandon your current favourite curry joint F-O-R-E-V-E-R. I introduce you to….Carom As we entered the restaurant my breath was taken away by seeing the gorgeous “Botanical Gin Garden, then we were lead into our dining area- intimate yet spacious with a rich magenta colour pouring into the room. This entire restaurant is gorgeous, perfect for dates, get togethers and birthdays...
