Only two years after it was completely destroyed by fire, The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare reopens this weekend after a £39m refurb, ready for a half-term onslaught of excited kids. There are even rumours of people sleeping there overnight to be the first to tread the pier’s boards tomorrow. Once up and running, the pier will revolutionise the town’s event space, able to cater for conferences of up to 2,000 and dinners or 900, all a quarter of a mile out to sea. We love the fact that you can book the go-kart track and some of the rides for break-out events.
