Recently purchased by the Royal Society, Chicheley Hall, just outside Milton Keynes, is set to reopen in 2010 following extensive refurbishment. Newly available for events, the Grade I-listed Georgian house is set in 75 acres of grounds and will include four meeting rooms for up to 25, as well as two lecture halls for up to 98 (one featuring tiered seating). 47 bedrooms will also be available for delegate use and the venue is now open for early-bird bookings.
The new £30m Cardiff City Stadium has opened ready for the 2009/10 season. Built on the site of the old Cardiff Athletic Stadium, the 26,000-seater stadium has two large conference/dining areas in the Premier Club, accommodating up to 1,200, as well as 14 boxes which can be used as smaller meeting rooms or breakout spaces. Originally due to launch in the summer, the John Hope Gateway at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh will now be opening on 7 October, with catering run by Prestige Scotland. The new restaurant will cater for private events for up to 190 and sits alongside a bar and VIP room forming a suite of spaces running the length of the building, spilling onto a large roof terrace overlooking the gardens.
Organise a meeting in the Dorchester Suite (seating 16) or an overnight stay at Summer Lodge Hotel, Restaurant & Spa on October 10 and you'll get to experience a complimentary Mushroom Foray, under the guidance of celebrated wild-mushroom hunter John Wright.
