Located in Liverpool’s ‘Beatles Quarter’, the new Hard Days Night Hotel makes a great spot for music-themed events. Housed in a tastefully converted Grade-II listed building, the four-star property has 110 bedrooms and two suites. The latter, which can be used for functions, are named in honour of Lennon and McCartney, showcasing items celebrating the great men – the Lennon suite, for example, features a white grand piano. The Hard Days Night event suite, meanwhile, holds a vast collection of memorabilia from the film of the same name and seats 50 for dinner, and the creatively lit Zygmant suite (in honour of Beatles photographer Bill Zygmant) can accomodate 80. Both rooms adjoin Hari's bar, and if all you need is love, the hotel even has its own wedding chapel.
myhotel Brighton (tel: 01273 900 300) had its grand opening last week following a soft launch over the last couple of months. Aldo Zilli's deli-style café and seafood restaurant is also now open for business, with alfresco seating for up to 120 people. Two event spaces, Mercury and Rishi,hold up to 40 and 15 respectively.
Five-star Jacobean country house Marriott Hanbury Manor has two tempting corporate offers this spring and summer. During April and May, its 24-hour delegate rate will start from £199, while event organizers taking 30 bedrooms or more will receive a complimentary Champagne reception and three room upgrades. Those who book a residential meeting in August with receive a free ‘Spa Reviver’, Pimm’s or Champagne reception and a 20 per cent discount on teambuilding activities. The 161-bed Hertfordshire hotel has impressive conference facilities and an onsite PGA championship golf course.
Corporate golfers don’t have to wait another two years to taste the drama of The Ryder Cup at The Celtic Manor Resort. The Welsh five-star golf, spa and conference venue has now opened its Twenty Ten course and clubhouse, set to host The Ryder Cup in 2010, and for one day a week, the spectacular 18-hole course can be hired exclusively. A corporate golf day package includes buggy hire, use of a function suite seating 96 and members’ lounge for drinks, valet parking, a luxurious locker room, shoe cleaning and scorecard management. And a meal at the resort’s newly opened fine dining restaurant, The Crown, is a must.
