What's New: London Venues — November 2010

Archives for November 2010

New Venue Launch in Covent Garden - What's New: London Venues New Venue Launch in Covent Garden

Just released to the events market, INC Space in Covent Garden is one of the hottest new venues in town at the moment. Originally a members’ club, it has some awesome facilities for brainstorming sessions, creative meetings and receptions. A DDR of £65 is competitive for this part of town, with some exclusive add-ons, like a concierge service and gym facilities that you’d struggle to find outside a members’ club of this quality. Maximum capacity is 200 for a reception.

Murder on the South Bank - What's New: London Venues Murder on the South Bank

Anyone stuck in the snarled-up traffic in southwest London late last night will have been cursing Agatha Christie. The grand dame of crime fiction would be 120 this year, so to celebrate Orient-Express has transported a 1928 carriage from its British Pullman train to the South Bank for the BFI’s Agatha Christie Weekend. You can step aboard from Thursday through to Sunday, under the watchful eye of a Poirot lookalike. The British Pullman train is, of course, available to book for corporate days, but please don’t base a teambuilding exercise around doing away with an annoying colleague. Call 020 7921 4000 for more info.

The Berkeley Opens Rooftop Winter Cinema - What's New: London Venues The Berkeley Opens Rooftop Winter Cinema

Every winter the five-star Berkeley hotel in Knightsbridge opens a rooftop cinema for guests. This year though, non-residents can come and enjoy the line up of winter classics, like It’s a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 24th Street, while snuggling under Mulberry blankets and sipping on hot chocolate. The cinema package costs £50pp, which includes access to the movie theatre, heated swimming pool and health club for the evening. Call 020 7201 1699 to book. The cinema’s open until 15 February 2011.

Wahaca Launches Soho Branch with Cool Event Space - What's New: London Venues Wahaca Launches Soho Branch with Cool Event Space

The latest link in Tommi Miers’ Mexican chain is the first to offer event space. Its basement bar can be hired for groups of 60 guests, with room for drinking, dining & table football. The food lends itself perfectly to sharing (ask for large platters of tacos, quesadillas & taquitos) & we loved the new tequila flight, which sees El Tesoro’s blanco, reposado & aňejo varieties served on a wooden presentation board with a shot of sangrita – it will change the way you look at tequila forever. Call 020 7734 0195 for reservations.

Ice Rink at Somerset House - What's New: London Venues Ice Rink at Somerset House

The ice rink, Skate, has just opened for its winter residency at Somerset House, with tickets available from £10.50. For team outings, we’d suggest a couple of winter warmers Tom’s Skate Lounge après skate. MORE
