Portugal's first match, against the Ivory Coast, is today. If you want to party with its star player - and the most expensive signing in the world - Ronaldo, there's no need to trek all the way to South Africa. Baker Street is as far as you need go to rub shoulders with your own personal fantasy football league. Ronaldo is the latest addition to the the Madame Tussauds team, joining Steven Gerrard and David Beckham. Organisers hosting events at Madame Tussauds during the World Cup will also be able to request matches on plasma screens available throughout the venue as part of their package.

ExCeL Becomes  One of Europe's Largest Venues - What's New: London Venues ExCeL Becomes One of Europe's Largest Venues

London’s largest event space, ExCeL London, has just got bigger, following a two-year, £165m expansion project. Boris Johnson joined a team of prominent Dubai-based politicians and businessmen to open the extension, which will see the east London venue able to host an additional 5,000 delegates in a 32,500sq m facility – equivalent to an extra 14 football pitches. The expansion also sees the ExCeL become London’s largest banqueting hall, able to host 3,000 diners, served from the largest production kitchen in the UK.

The Natural History Museum couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening for last night’s launch of the stunning terrace at the £78m Darwin Centre. Some 250 guests sipped pink prosecco & soaked up the views of the sweeping amphitheatre & gleaming façade. A summery line-up of skewers, salads & savoury pastries was served by the-recipe & parkour runners provided suitably contemporary entertainment. The huge terrace adds a reception space to the Darwin Centre’s sleek 400-capacity interior & can also be used before dinner in the iconic Central Hall.
