The Ritz Palm Court
One of the most famous destinations for traditional afternoon tea is The Ritz Palm Court, which now holds five sittings daily (11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm). Finger sandwiches, scones with fruits-of-the-forest compote and English cream, pastries and cakes, plus a selection of 17 different teas cost £35 per person. The Connaught
Afternoon tea at The Connaught in Mayfair costs £24 and includes scones, pastries, and crumpets. Guests can enjoy trolley service in the hotel’s elegant Red Room or cake stands in the Drawing Room alongside a selection of infusions from around the world. 16 Carlos Place, W1. Tel: 020 7499 7070.
The Berkeley
Tea fit for a fashionista can be found at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, where eclairs, cakes and fancies (in miniature portions for the figure conscious) all resemble catwalk creations. The Conservatory at The Lanesborough
The Conservatory at the Lanesborough serves tea during the week from 3.30-6pm and from 4-6pm on Sundays. Guests are served finger sandwiches, scones, pastries, crumpets, and tea or coffee for £24.50, or for £29.50, afternoon tea will include strawberries and cream and a glass of Champagne. Claridge's
At Claridge's, choose from traditional, Champagne or Dom Perignon Champagne afternoon tea, priced at £28.50, £36.50 and £46.50, respectively. The menu offers a selection of finger sandwiches, French pastries and scones served with tea-infused jam and Devonshire clotted cream. The Savoy
The Savoy has offered afternoon tea since the hotel first opened in 1889. It’s served in the Thames Foyer accompanied by a resident pianist. The Dorchester

Park Lane Hotel

Bar 190

The Wapping Project
The Wapping Project has recently launched Wapping Afternoon Tea, with homemade desserts and fairy cakes available from Monday to Saturday in the industrial building that formerly housed the Wapping Hydraulic Power Station. Roka
If you’re in need of refreshment during the upcoming summer months, head to Roka, where various iced tea creations are served up in tall glasses for £4.50 each. Choose from the likes of Ni (apple and lemon tisane with fresh fruit and hibiscus) and Ichi (blood orange tisane with orange slices). The Wolseley
At the glamorous Wolseley, tea is served from 3-5.30pm on weekdays and 3.30-6pm on weekends. Afternoon tea includes assorted finger sandwiches, fruit scones, a selection of pastries, and range of teas for £18.50. Parlour at Sketch
At the Parlour at Sketch tea with scones costs £7.25 per person and is served from 3pm daily. Alternatively, crank things up a notch with tea served ‘Sketch Style’ which includes finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and choice of teas for £16 per person. National Dining Rooms
The National Dining Rooms, the new restaurant at The National Gallery, serves traditional British tea overlooking Trafalgar Square. Tea begins at 3pm and is served with a fruit scone, clotted cream and preserves, and a selection of cakes and savoury toasts for £12.
