Let down by the kitchen!
We booked a table before going to the Appollo Theatre. It's really close for that venue, so ideally positioned. There's lots of comfy seating in the bar area for a pre dinner drink, which we took advantage of. At 6:00 p. m the restaurant was virtually empty, but by 7:00 it was full to capacity. I would say that it's essential to book if you're going to the theatre. Our order for food and drink was taken quickly and our starters and drinks were brought to the table swiftly. However it went downhill after that. Everyone around us were served and had left the restaurant whilst we were still waiting for our main course. We asked the waiter where our food was, he said it would be 5 minutes. It took ages to come. We sat down at 6:00 but didn't leave the restaurant until 7:30. Thank goodness we hadn't booked the table for 7:00! On their menu they state, that they aim to serve the food quickly for pre theatre dining. If you aren't in a hurry let them know. We certainly didn't do that. The kitchen had overlooked our order. Not a great start to our evening. I have to say though, the food was absolutely delicious when it did arrive. Cooked to perfection. We opted not to pay the 12.5% discretionary gratuity charge. The restaurant didn't charge us for our coffees as a gesture of goodwill.

Thought Lala was overall pretty good. The food and service were both very good and the atmosphere was also nice. The name of the Restaurant made us laugh!

Hammersmith brasserie
In a nondescript part of town for a concert this was a great find. Four of us had early drinks in the bar, and a good pre-show dinner. Hot flat breads arrived with smokey aubergine dip and cigar shaped bourek - crisp outside and creamy cheese inside - these were a good choice. Chicken brochettes were properly cooked, they had flavour from the grill and were still nice and juicy, with rice, salad and yogurt dip on the side. Altogether very enjoyable if not ground breaking, with efficient friendly service that got the whole restaurant off in time for the show.

Excellent food and service ideal before event at Hammersmith Apollo
LaLa is in an excellent spot before events at the Hammersmith Apollo, with just a 2 minute brisk walk to the Apollo and only 2 from Hammersmith Underground station. The service was spot on and the servers were very attentive and knowledgable of the menu. The menu was sufficient for all tastes, although not 38 pages!! The food was delivered in good time, hot and well presented and very tasty indeed - yummy in fact. Recommended to all as an ideal place to feast pre show or at any other time if in the area.

Lala Brasserie/ Hammersmith Apollo
This Taverna type restaurant, is 2 minutes walk from the Hammersmith Apollo. Ideal for anybody visiting that venue. The food reminds me of being on holiday, chicken, lamb kebabs, salads pitta breads. Or steak and HUGE prawns too. The mixed platter came on a huge wooden board, with a yoghurt/mint dip, and was delicious. Great value for money. It did not have a huge wine list, but the red wine we chose was acceptable, and was very reasonably priced. The service was great, and they were very attentive. And to add to all that, at the end of the meal, they gave us a drink on the house! (I'm sorry but that goes a long way with me). I would definitely go there again.

Sorry, you cannot spend SquareMeal vouchers here yet.
