About

At The Glynne Arms we want to understand exactly where our food comes from. Provenance is key to us because we not only believe in food that tastes great but that is also local, sustainable and is good for our community, the environment and our guests’ health. Everyone talks about provenance, but we try to go an extra mile by really understanding precisely where all of our meat, vegetables and dairy products come from.

Much of our meat served in the pub is sourced from our sister business the Hawarden Estate Farm Shop, and if it isn’t reared right here on the Estate, the butchers work hand-in-hand with local farmers and merchants to select the best, most sustainable and most local produce they can. A lot of other produce –fruit and veg and dairy- also comes from the Estate, and we forage what we can, with Estate wild garlic and Dee Estuary Samphire regularly appearing on the menu. Not everything can be sourced locally as we use things like lemons and bananas, but a lot of it is.

Local Welsh and Cheshire-based businesses which supply tasty food and drink to the Farm Shop also make special editions for The Glynne. This includes producers of relishes, jams, chutney, jellies, juices, ales, cake and chocolate.

Local is good. Provenance is key. We want to bring you the best and so that’s what we’re trying to do.

We all ordered Sirloin steak @ £28.50. We asked for them to be cooked medium rare, but they came well done.

However we still enjoyed them. The chips were ok but not as good as our last visit approx 6 weeks back.

It is still a lovely place to visit with a nice open fire and a good selection of drinks with 4 cask ales on tap.
