About

Frank’s Cafe has been a Peckham institution since it first opened in 2009. Sat at the top of the famous Peckham Levels, Frank’s is an incredible place to watch the sunset over a drink. The building was originally a car park but has now blossomed into a multi-storey food, drink, culture and music hub, offering meals, masterclasses and more.

Designed by Practice Architecture, Frank’s was Bold Tendencies’ first venture into the realm of architecture. A truly seasonal bar, Frank’s is only open in the summer due to its exposure to the elements. The upside of this open design, however, is an almost 360-degree view of the London skyline. The space is large, with long communal tables perfect for large groups and there are often installations and mini-exhibitions to walk around.

Tucked away from the high street, Frank’s used to be one of Peckham’s best-kept secrets. Over the last ten years, however, its popularity has grown immensely. Walk down the side of Peckham Levels, enter the building and ascend the famous and highly Instagram-able pink stairs to the seventh floor. First-time visitors are always blown away by the view, as there isn’t anywhere in south London quite like it.

At Frank’s, the menu is to the point. Choose from classic cocktails like negronis and bloody Marys to sip on, beers like Estrella on tap, or house wine by the glass or bottle. There are no table reservations at Frank’s, so we recommend showing up nice and early to get a good spot. Even if all the tables are still full, you can grab a spot by the west edge for the spectacular sunset.

Frank’s typically opens for summer around May, so be sure to keep your ear to the ground, as this is without a doubt one of London’s prime rooftop bars.
