About

This impressive and illustrious Great Hall, with its marble columns and high ceilings, is where visitors to Eastbourne can relax and enjoy afternoon tea. A luxurious and indulgent experience not to be missed, make sure you take the time to build up your appetite with a refreshing wander along the seafront before enjoying the delicious toasted English muffins, tasty sandwiches and delightful scones in one of the country's most famous hotel lounges. The Great Hall itself is situated in one of the UK's most stunning Victorian hotels (and the only five-star English seaside hotel), The Grand Hotel, which stands on the shoreline and overlooks the sea and the cliffs at Beachy Head.

The hotel is renowned for it’s rich musical history. Debussy completed his symphony 'La Mer' in Suite 200 in 1905 and The Grand Hotel Orchestra broadcasted live on BBC from the Great Hall every Sunday night from 1924 to 1939. Today, on the last Sunday of the month (except June, July and December), Afternoon tea is served to the sounds of the Palm Court String’s Orchestra, the quintessentially British establishment still carries and air of history.
