Passing through Cheddar you probably won’t miss Shahnaz, an imposing Indian restaurant on a corner of The Cliff. Contemporary brick and glass, lights shining out on to the street, the exterior is as welcoming as the interior where two floors of pure contemporary design are populated by welcoming staff and happy customers enjoying great food and entertainment – a regular is Cheddar’s own incredible Elvis impersonator. The attention to detail in the design is reflected in the food – Indian cuisine brought in to the 21st century with attractive presentation and careful spicing. Of particular note are the fabulous fish and seafood dishes, including a great Goan fish curry, while traditional British Indian favourites are also on menu.
