Buenos Aires Argentine Steakhouse - Horsham

SquareMeal Review of Buenos Aires Argentine Steakhouse - Horsham

Prime Argentinian steak specialist Buenos Aires majors in moody interiors, South American artwork and Latin music. Warm up with homemade empanadas and a clutch of vegetarian dishes, or head straight for the flat rib-eye, paired with chimichurri or peppercorn sauce. Pampas-reared beef can be ordered per large plate: those succulent slabs of rib-eye (available in three sizes), churrasco (rump), sirloin or lomo (fillet). Can’t decide? No problem: there’s a vast ‘sampler’ option, featuring all four cuts. As you would hope, the wine list offers roughly a dozen Malbecs, alongside signature cocktails; don’t miss the Dulce de Leche digestif, a great way to round off a protein-packed feast. Canny bookers will be pleased to hear Buenos Aires offer numerous promotions too.

We visited to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends. The ambience was ok but music was loud and quite difficult to follow a conversation. We ordered some tapas for starters and we were very disappointed. The calamari were tasteless and greasy, the prawns in garlic were swimming in melted butter and the portions were very small and worked out at £1.10 per prawn. The cuts of meat were of good quality and cooked ok. The tiny portion of peppercorn sauce was expensive. The wine was drinkable but nothing memorable. The waiting staff were enthusiastic but in need of guidance and organisation, when the main meal arrived we still had dirty plates, empty bottles and greasy table from the starters and the poor waitress was trying to clear the table with one hand and holding the steak with the other. It was chaotic. Luck of transparency and honesty regarding the special offers as the staff didn't tell us what offers they had advertised on the website. I find this misleading. I have written two polite email to the head office highlighting this matter and so far no reply. After expending £240 I did not feel valued or recognised as a customer. We should of gone to Tristan or Côte as I feel guilty I spoiled my husband's birthday. Last thing: I find it so pretentious when any restaurant (apart from a Michelin star) adds 10% service charge to the bill. It says that you can opt out, but that's just not the point. Earn your 10% and I'll happily pay them, or more if deserved." If you are superstitious the building used to be a Funeral Directors for years
