Following a complete overhaul, The Hawk Inn now leads a new life as one of the area’s more stylish hostelries and gets the thumbs-up in every department – from the soothing decor and smart bedrooms to the warm ambience and user-friendly food. The menu offers a mix of robust flavours with the odd fancy flourish: lunch offers good value in the shape of chicken Caesar salad wraps and steak baguettes, while the more ambitious carte deals in the likes of hazelnut- and pepper-crusted beef carpaccio with citrus dressing or blackened chicken with tomato and lime salsa. Popular desserts such as white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake are also well up to par. Sunday night is pizza night.
