About

The Three Horseshoes in Letchworth is everything you’d expect from a traditional English pub. A charming and historic joint that is nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of quaint Norton, Letchworth Garden City, this pub has an old-world charm that visitors love.

An 18th century coaching inn, The Three Horseshoes welcome guests with a roaring fire and a pleasant pub grub menu. A dog-friendly pub, the rustic and welcoming interior is adorned with vintage décor, wooden beams, and cosy corners that invite customers to unwind and enjoy a moment of respite with a local beer alongside friends.

Start your meal with glazed chicken skewers, three cheese button mushroom bruschetta or some crispy coated whitebait, before moving on to a home comfort main. The beef pie of the day is topped with golden pastry, buttery chive mashed potato, seasonal vegetables and lashings of gravy, so you can really feel at home at The Three Horseshoes on a cold British evening. For lighter options, there are pasta dishes and salads, along with sandwiches which are served until 4pm. Hearty roasts are served on Sunday serving endless roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings, with the option of beef, pork, turkey, lamb, a triple roast, and mushroom wellington. Bread and butter pudding fingers kick off the dessert menu, with the inclusion of firm favourites - chocolate fudge cake, eton mess sundae and the crumble of the day topped with a jug of hot and creamy custard.

The Three Horseshoes is a great meeting point for friends, families, and even strangers who quickly become friends over a pint or a game of darts. You’ll find a lively, buzzy atmosphere during quiz nights, live music events, and themed parties, all of which can be found happening often at the Three Horseshoes.

Always good value and generous portions. We had excellent service, as there were only a few other diners there.

Disappointing

Thought I’d take my elderly mum out for dinner as she doesn’t get out much and we thought we’d try here as mum needed some Birthday cards from the garden centre almost next door. Ordered food and drinks and nice man bought dog water bowl out for my dog. Mum ordered Chicken Schnitzel with triple cooked chunky chips, rocket and lemon wedge. Service was quick but it came with the most anaemic French fries and no rocket. When I showed the waitress the menu so she could see what it should have come with ‘triple cooked chunky chips and rocket’ she just stared and said nothing. After repeating, she took the plate back and came back with what ‘looked’ like triple cooked chips and a heap of extremely wilted rocket! Sadly mum couldn’t eat the chips as they were so dry and the rocket, well you just wouldn’t put that on anyones plate! The chicken was pretty dry too, I think mum had about 3 bites. I had triple roast. Again, didn’t come with everything listed on the menu. No crispy pork crackling and no pork, orange and fig stuffing! It wasn’t hot, just warm. The meats were tender but pretty tasteless. Hard to tell the difference in the 3 very small pieces of meat. The tender stem broccoli was very stringy and inedible. Other veg was ok. Roast potatoes were not crispy, just all soft. Yorkshire was dry. Mashed potato didn’t taste like fresh mash, very ‘pastey’ in texture. Unfortunately this put us off ordering a dessert and won’t visit again for food. Should have stuck to our original choice and gone to the Crown at Henlow! I think their food is sitting around being kept warm for far too long, hence things being so dry.
