SquareMeal Review of Yum Cha

While most dim sum joints only serve dumplings until late afternoon, here the snacks are available through the day & until last orders at night. We’ve never been hugely impressed by the quality, but the constant stream of diners suggests that there are many who are. At least there’s plenty of choice, from fried squid cake to crispy chicken wontons by way of steamed Szechuan pork dumplings, prawn croquettes & skewered beef balls. The range of tea (‘yum cha’ literally means ‘drink tea’) is not quite as extensive, but throws up some floral beauties including dried chrysanthemum. A menu featuring the standard array of Cantonese dishes is also available – fill up on substantial noodle & rice dishes before flexing your vocal cords in one of four karaoke rooms.

Serves the best dim sum I've had outside China for exceptional value. Can't believe I hadn't found it before!

Went here on a Saturday night to try and experience some authentic Dim Sum. The place was busy, the service quick (though had to ask repeatedly for extra sauce), but sadly the food was awful. The squid was very chewy. the ribs overly fatty, the nasi goreng tasted of washing up liquid and the pork shubai was full of gristle. Left feeling sick rather than sated.
